Quality Control Lead | Star Building Services | Houston, TX
When a supervisor finishes their monthly inspection on a Star Building Services account, the file does not close. A second person walks the same building the following week, with a stricter eye and a different checklist, looking specifically for what the supervisor might have missed. That second inspection is Viviana Campo’s job. As Quality Control Lead, Viviana runs the middle layer of the three-layer inspection structure that keeps Star’s standards from drifting month over month. She reports findings, tracks corrective actions in Star’s Salesforce-based operations platform, and holds supervisors accountable across every Houston and Dallas account.

What Viviana Does at Star Building Services
Viviana is Star’s Quality Control Lead. Her role sits between the account supervisor and the operations manager, and it exists for one reason: to catch the findings that the supervisor missed and to escalate what the client would otherwise flag first.
Her day-to-day scope covers four responsibilities:
- Second-pass account inspections. Every Star Building Services account gets three inspections a month, by three different people. Viviana does the second one, on-site, with a stricter standard than the supervisor uses for the first pass.
- Finding-to-corrective-action tracking. Every finding she logs in the Salesforce-based operations platform gets assigned to the supervisor, tagged with a corrective action, and tracked to closure. Nothing sits open.
- Supervisor accountability. Her inspections hold supervisors to Star's standards, not just the cleaning crews. When a pattern of findings shows up under one supervisor, that is her signal to escalate to operations leadership.
- Cross-hub inspection consistency. She calibrates the QC standard across both Houston and Dallas accounts so a facility manager in either city gets the same audit rigor.

The Quality Control Function at Star
Most commercial cleaning companies have a supervisor and hope the supervisor catches everything. Star built the QC role into the operating structure from the beginning because a single inspection layer is not enough to hold quality across 18 years of growth.
Here is what the three-layer structure looks like on any given account. The account supervisor does the first pass every month, using a checklist calibrated to the facility type (office, restaurant, hospital admin, industrial, and so on). The supervisor’s job is to catch what the crew missed on their scheduled shifts.
Viviana comes in for the second pass. Her checklist is stricter. Her eye is trained on specific patterns: recurring findings that suggest the supervisor is not calibrating the crew, corners that get missed in a specific facility type, and drift in areas the client tends to notice first. Her second-pass findings are the highest-signal audit data Star produces.
The operations manager runs the third pass, sometimes announced, sometimes not. That pass keeps Viviana’s own work accountable, closing the loop.
A Typical Week in Quality Control
Viviana’s week rotates across account types. Some inspections are scheduled with the supervisor; some are unannounced and run only with the account contact.
A typical inspection cycle looks like this: she walks the property against the facility-specific checklist, photographs findings, logs them in Salesforce with a corrective action and a supervisor assignment, and reviews the finding history for the account to see whether the same issue has shown up before. Repeat findings escalate faster than first-time ones.
She spends part of most weeks in restaurants and food service accounts, where sanitation stakes are highest and inspection stakes track them. Office and Class A tower accounts get regular rotation. Hospital administrative facilities and industrial sites round out her schedule, along with occasional cross-hub inspections when supervisors in Dallas need a QC pass on newer accounts.
Her dashboard is the operational record of every finding, closure, and pattern across every account she covers.

How Quality Control Protects the Client Experience
Facility managers and property managers do not want to be the person who catches the missed corner. They hire a commercial cleaning company partly to move that responsibility off their desk. Viviana’s role protects that transfer.
When the middle-layer QC inspector is doing her job, the client sees fewer surprise findings, fewer complaints from tenants or staff, and a partner that catches drift before it becomes a service issue. That is the operational value of the QC layer: not the inspection itself, but the pattern-recognition that prevents the same finding from showing up in month three that showed up in month one.
Retention data at Star supports the model. Clients who work with the company for years cite consistent quality as the reason they stay, and consistent quality traces back to inspection cadence.
Working Alongside the Co-Founders
Viviana’s role completes Star’s leadership triad. Angelica Catano leads client relationships, brand direction, and major-account management. Juan Gonzalez owns operational infrastructure, supervisor training, and the facility maintenance trades network. Viviana runs the accountability layer between the field and the client.
The three roles fit together specifically. Angelica hears from the client. Juan builds the system that responds. Viviana verifies the system is working on the ground, every month, every account.

Angelica Catano
Angelica co-founded Star Building Services in 2008 and runs the company today. Her focus sits at client relationships, brand direction, and the growth planning that took Star from a single Houston operation into a Texas-wide facility service company. She is the primary contact for major accounts and drives the company’s certification and community work.

Juan Gonzalez
Juan co-founded Star in 2008 and continues to shape the operational side of the business. His work centers on scaling delivery quality across a growing account base without breaking what made the original operation work: attention to detail, direct communication, and accountability that reaches every shift.
